Department of Biology Education

Our Vision

The vision of the Department of Biology Education is to educate teachers who possess strong subject matter knowledge and pedagogical competence; who are research-oriented, critical thinkers, self-confident, and equipped with universal teaching competencies.

Our program aims to integrate biological sciences with education in order to prepare innovative biology teachers who embrace scientific thinking and can adapt to the evolving demands of contemporary society.


Undergraduate Program

Students in the Department of Biology Education graduate in four years and are qualified to work as Biology Teachers at the secondary education level (Grades 9–12).

Each year, the program admits approximately 20 students.

Program Content

The Biology Education Program offers courses in core biological disciplines, including general biology, genetics, ecology, botany, zoology, microbiology, biochemistry, histology, and cytology.

In addition, the program supports the professional development of pre-service teachers through pedagogical courses such as instructional methods, educational psychology, material design, and STEM-based education.


Modern Laboratory Facilities

  • Experimental and hands-on learning opportunities in General Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Botany, Zoology, Histology, and Cytology laboratories

  • Innovative teaching practices supported by STEM and artificial intelligence-based applications

Graduate Programs (Master’s and PhD)

The Department of Biology Education offers thesis-based master’s and doctoral programs for individuals who aim to pursue an academic career in biology education.

Objectives of the Graduate Programs

  • To provide advanced knowledge and skills in biology, biology teaching, and biology education

  • To develop scientific research competencies

  • To prepare researchers who seek specialization in Biology Education and aspire to become academic staff members at universities
